The membership login process on the site was extremely overcomplicated and very difficult to manage; with over 50 different membership levels. Members were having to complete very complex membership application forms which were not relevant to their application. This confusion constantly led to users re-registering due to an unclear process which had a knock on effect of contaminating the membership database with multiple accounts.
3mil mapped out all the possible user journeys scenarios and then proceeded to conduct a process of illustrating the routes and highlighting some of the unnecessary steps taken. We then drew up new simplified routes for all application options.
“Having established a very positive relationship with Trillium for over three years, we were happy to accept their recommendation of 3mil to design a new online portal for members of the Royal Aeronautical Society. We were delighted with the outcome. 3mil’s design met the brief perfectly, staying true to our existing brand whilst enhancing the site in terms of both style and usability. It was important to us that the engagement between 3mil, Trillium and the Royal Aeronautical Society should be seamless and indeed this turned out to be one of the smoothest areas of the project. We would not hesitate to undertake another project with this partnership.”

Part of a problem that 3mil solved was the need for a stronger graphical element to indicate if a user was logged in to the site. The solution led the user to a personalised ‘my profile’ page which utilised the RAes brand colours to differentiate the key elements of membership and its associated membership level.
