Whether you sell physical products or services you should be looking for new ways you can drum up more business. One of the first things small businesses think of when gaining more leads is optimising their website. Whilst getting your SEO right and crafting a solid social media strategy are all good ways to increase traffic to you website – they’re not necessarily the best ways to increase conversions and get more business. Campaigns that are designed to engage users and push them towards a sales funnel are usually a better way to do this. Luckily for you, we’ve listed a few of our favourite campaigns that convert below.
The mailing list giveaway
This kind of campaign probably takes the longest out of our list. However it is probably the easiest way to capture users’ contact information. But why would you want to capture contact information we hear you ask. Well, once you have their contact information you can start sending them more marketing information and content that could slowly but surely push them towards the beginning of a sales funnel. Users who regularly receive messages from businesses are more likely to purchase from them as these messages are kept in the forefront of their minds. So how can you start collecting contacts to do this? Firstly, create something that your target market would want or find useful. You could design a template, create a printable, write a white paper or giveaway an e-course. It could be anything but it must be something your target market are willing to part with their contact information for. Once you’ve created your “giveaway” hide it on a page that users can only get access to once they have filled out a form. That way they get to download your freebie that they want and you get to keep their contact information.
This is another way to collect contact information. However it’s a little bit less time consuming. All you have to do is be willing to give something away for free. For instance, it could be one of your products or a service package. Similarly to the above all you have to do is create a form on your website where the user leaves their contact information. Then you enter them into your competition to win whatever prize you’ve got up for grabs. The best part is – you only have to giveaway one prize and you still get to keep all of the contact information.
The behaviour tracker
Out of our entire list – this is probably the trickiest one to get right. However, once you start it’s a pretty easy way to contact potential customers who have a higher chance of purchasing. What you want to do is use a tracking system in conjunction with some sort of CRM (customer retention management) system, that triggers something to change on your website depending on what actions the user takes. A good example of this is Hubspot. If you’re a business that sells products on your website you could do the following: when a user who is subscribed to your newsletter adds something to their cart but then closes the browser an email is sent to them. The email should state something like “forgot something?” then list the items that they put in their cart but abandoned. This will then make the user think about their purchase again. These kind of tactics can achieve up to a 29% success rate resulting in the user coming back to complete the purchase.
That pretty much sums up our favourite and most simple campaigns that increase conversions. However, of course, remember that these are just general tips and that how you should utilise and market your business is very dependent on what industry you are in as well as your target audience.
